Carol is Proud to Be Part of Hammer’s Future

Carol Gottschalk

When Carol Gottschalk was taking care of her estate plans, she knew she wanted to include Hammer in her will. She is an active volunteer, donor and Hammer family member. Her niece Elizabeth moved to Hammer in 1978, when she was 16 years old.

Ever since, Carol and her family have stepped up again and again—however, and whenever, is needed. From making birthday cards for everyone at Hammer, to baking cookies for Give to the Max Day, to serving Thanksgiving meals, Carol has developed deep connections with the people served by Hammer.

Carol has witnessed decades of support Elizabeth has received from caregivers, volunteers and donors. She knows that in addition to her volunteer work, the need for financial support from families like hers is great. Donor dollars are key to Hammer’s mission of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live their lives to the fullest.

Her estate gift will go to Hammer’s area of greatest need, meaning it will be put to good use, immediately. “To me, it’s not that big of a deal to leave something to Hammer, but I know it means the world to Elizabeth and everyone else living at Hammer. I am proud of my connection to this wonderful community, and excited to play a part in its future.”
