Meet Our Donors
Hammer and those we serve are blessed with many unique and creative contributions that make a significant impact. A heartfelt thanks to all who support Hammer. Here are just a few of our donor stories.
Giving back is extremely important to my family. We have been donors to Hammer since 2005, when my daughter, Beth, moved to a Hammer home after having lived in Michigan almost her whole life. Several years later, my husband, Bill, and I made the decision to include Hammer in our estate plan.
A few years ago, my sister Beth moved into a Hammer apartment program with staff in the building available for her as needed. These years were the best years of her life! She enjoyed eating meals in the community apartment with friends, going to sporting events, and was always looking forward to her next adventure with Hammer Travel.
When families share their stories about Hammer and the services they provide for our loved ones, inevitably a family member will land on the word grateful.
When Pat and Michael Houston began creating a legacy, they knew they wanted to include Hammer in their plans.
A Lifetime, a Legacy
Paul Voetman and Lynn Aase both lived at Hammer for more than 40 years and were the best of friends. They were so close that people would often comment that they seemed like “an old married couple,” especially when Lynn would finish Paul’s sentences for him.
A Legacy of Service
The incomparable Claire Hinrichs, member of the Alvina Hammer Heritage Society, who has volunteered with us for more than 20 years. If you’ve ever received a Discoveries newsletter or Hammer magazine—it’s because of Claire. Claire is the one who carefully sorts our mailing lists and places these labels on more than 4,000 pieces of mail!
